Dr. Vuyiseka Dubula

Vuyiseka has been one of the young leading black African women leaders in social movements for the human rights of people living with HIV in South Africa. She has openly lived with HIV for 19 years and has been a leader for people living with HIV by serving on various AIDS councils from the mid-2000s. Vuyiseka is currently doing her postdoc fellowship at the Centre for Civil Society at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She teaches and supervises postgraduate students at Stellenbosch University (Africa Centre for HIV/AIDS Management). She also serves as the General Secretary for the Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) for the past eight years. She also joined Sonke Gender Justice in various capacities such as a board member, Director of Policy and Research Development, and as the Director of Programmes: Community Mobilisation and Accountability. She founded an NPO: Activist Centre for Education & Development to facilitate skills and economic development of women living with HIV activists.
